Two-strand twist
Two sections of hair twisted around each other. Popular for its versatility and fuller early appearance. Great for most hair types and a common choice for first-timers.
Comb coil
Small sections coiled with a comb into tight, uniform spirals. Produces very neat, defined locs and works especially well on shorter hair.
Interlocking
The loc is pulled through its own base with a tool, locking it from the inside out. Secure and low-maintenance — a strong choice for active lifestyles and those who cannot get to frequent retwists.
Braids (braidlocs)
Started as braids that lock down over time. Sturdy and structured, with a slightly different texture than twisted or coiled locs.
Freeform
Minimal manipulation — the hair locs naturally into organic, one-of-a-kind sections. Lowest maintenance, but less uniform by design.
